Central Michigan University Rock Returns

Recently the rock on Central Michigan University’s campus was returned to its former location.
When I pledged in 1985 (Lambda Gamma Chapter), we had to keep the rock painted for our entire probate stage. Therefore, we had to paint it every night because the other fraternities and sororities probates were required to do the same. It was very common to paint the rock with the PBS letters at 11 p.m. and come back at 12 a.m. and another probate line would have painted over it. Then we would have to repaint it again, because the PBS letters had to remain on the rock.
Please share your experiences with the brotherhood about your campus’ rock.

Reality TV: The Biggest Loser and Survivor: Samoa

You probably got the email from IHQ about Bro. Antoine Dove participating in NBC’s reality show “The Biggest Loser”. Bro. Dove is noted as saying “I was blessed this past Spring to be selected as a contestant on NBC’s hit weight loss reality show ‘The Biggest Loser.’ I have struggled with my weight all my life and now with the help of NBC I am tackling my weight with full force.

Earlier this evening, CBS premiered the 19th episode of the show that brought reality TV mainstream with Survivor: Samoa. Somehow I caught a brand on the right arm of the voted leader of the Galu tribe. Looked him up and his name is Russell Swan. My records show a brother of the same name from Zeta Psi Sigma chapter. Can anyone confirm?

Sigma Owned: Acapulco Taqueria, Mimosa Champagne Lounge

this past weekend, a few of us who crossed from the omicron pi (cal poly SLO) chapter decided to get together for an informal thing at acapulco taqueria in hayward, CA. bro. alejandro gamarra started this place out as a taco truck in the early 90s and now has 3 locations in hayward. after a few drinks and a bottle of what we christened as “blue phi tequila” (aka clase azul plata), we headed up to oakland to check out mimosa champagne lounge. story was raul from omicron zeta (san francisco state) was the bartender and since he was sands with one of us who hadn’t seen him in years we had to make it. it didn’t take long before we ran into a few more brothers from OZ. bro “JP” (owner) threw us a round of beers, steve, raul and a few more brothers who’s name i forget. blue phi tequila, remember?

anyway, here’s my plug for these businesses. for those in the bay area, pay them a visit.
