The Michael Baisden Radio Show “Resident Poet”
Recently I had the opportunity to communicate with Bro. B.R. Burns, writer, speaker, director, poet, actor, and teacher. Bro. Burns serves as the “Resident Poet” on “The Michael Baisden Radio Show.” You can also catch Burns as the opening act for severally renown artists and for Michael Baisden’s “Love, Lust, & Lies Seminars.”
Bro. Burns is embarking on a Nation-Wide Grass Roots Styled Book Tour – from city to city – to sell 1,000,000 copies of his debut novel – Easier Said Than Done. He wants to be the first Self – Published Author to do it and would appreciate the support of the Brothers in helping him achieve this goal.
Bro. Burns initiated at Beta Phi Chapter, Texas College, Fall 1985. He was number #2 on his line and his nickname was “High Noon.” Many brothers got the opportunity to hangout with Bro. Burns at the New Orleans Conclave.
He earned a Bachelors of Art degree in English from Texas College (Tyler, TX) and has received many honors and awards for his poetry and writings. Bro. B.R. Burns currently resides in Houston, Texas.

RIP Hon. R.O. Sutton
earlier today, bro “jdreeves” posted the following on thecause1914:
It is with great sadness that I must report that our former oldest living National President, The Honorable Brother R.O. Sutton passed away at approximately 5:00 p.m. this evening. Please join me in prayer for his family and those of us who loved him in Sigma. Of course no arrangements have been made at this time.
i had the pleasure of meeting the honorable bro. sutton at his banquet in atlanta in 2005. during the roll call of past presidents, he single handedly energized the entire room. while every other past president responded with a business-like “here” when called, bro. sutton let out an exuberant “HERE” when his name was called. after the banquet, i stood nearby waiting my turn to shake his hand and spend a few moments one on one honoring bro. sutton amazed at the individual attention he gave to each brother, old and young, coming to congratulate him. i’m glad i had those precious moments to share with this Sigma giant.

Fraternal Ceremonial Attire
There has been much talk lately about the proper attire to wear to official fraternity ceremonies as well as business and public events. Here is a picture of Brothers Mallet Pacich and Warren S. Galloway, Jr. dressed appropriately in standard blue business suits with blue ties during the 2009 Southern Regional Conference in April. This is the standard fraternal dress attire with a black suit being a proper substitute for a blue suit when needed. A dark business suit should always be worn by all Alumni and Collegiate brothers.
